Session 5 Has Ended

HOGS AND DOGS:

On Friday night, June 16th, as unsuspecting San Diegans went about their normal business, SLI Class 203 descended once more upon the volleyball pits of the adjacent Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in order to consume mass quantities of beverages, Italian sausage, chicken and hot links, salad, chips and sand. Bill from San Berdoo squired the doggies and links around the grille with alacrity and aplomb; kids, don't try this at home: leave these convoluted maneuvers solely for the professionals such as Bill!

As those of us with more modest and pedestrian rides slumped towards MCRD, a contingent of HogRiders appeared amidst the sharp thunderclap of Hardley-Ableson exhaust, an euphonious wail of large monthly payments, abundant chrome, vibratory excitation and the standard H-D attention to detail, miraculous paint, wondrous accessories, Corbin seats, bags, boards and thick tires!

In all, a spectacular display of American Iron ranging from Bill's V-Rod to Gonzo's stellar Electra Glide and all points in between! Marlin and Bill: exquisite rides, I must admit!

FOR NEXT SESSION:

Our newest books, Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (which, naturally, has its own website of which I recommend at least a modicum of consulatation) and A Higher Standard of Leadership are subject to review for Session Six (yes -- Six!!).

Also, for S-6, we should already have cemented our groups (as indicated by the paper on the last day) and etched an appropriate leadership topic. Val and Dennis asked that our topics be ready for archiving on the first hour of S-6, along with an overall outline of where we propose to go with our group topic.

As a recap of our group topic presentation, it should:

  • Be 2 hour maximum;
  • 50 minutes then a 10 minute break;
  • 50 minutes then a 10 minute transition to the next group;
  • 20 minutes of video allowed maximum;

For our final paper, which is due on Wednesday morning of Session 8 (last session, 09-06 to 09-08, Wednesday to Friday): Did SLI meet the objectives of its Mission? We must touch on each SLI objectivity/mission point, and Dennis suggests a paper of roughly 5 pages.

Take care, be safe and, hey, thanks for alloting me some (as Jim was wont to say) "overacting" on the last day.
